Magnetic Screwdriving Bit Holder
Description
- 20 degree pivot mode allows for tight space accessibility
- Can be used in straight or pivot mode
- Locking collar allows for straight or angled driving
Quirk 1: It holds bits very tightly so that they don't fall out accidentally, but that means that the bits are very difficult to remove when the bit holder is new. While that is fine for larger bits or bits that are easily gripped (like nut drivers), for smaller bits, like 1 inch Philips, you may need the assistance of a pair of pliers. After some use, the bits become easier to remove and pliers are no longer necessary. Still a good feature because it does prevent bit loss.
Quirk 2: The bit holder has a tendency to lock into "straight mode". That is, when you are drilling at an angle, the pivot wants to bend back to become straight and lock into place. This can be really annoying. You have to keep holding the black collar while drilling in order to keep the bit at the desired angle.
Quirk 3: Like all bit holders, there is some wobble. This is not noticeable with short bits, but with long bits, like drill bits, the wobble is quite noticeable. In practice, this hasn't been a problem because once the bit bites the wobbling stops. Still, I would not use it for precision drilling.
Overall, I like it because I have not found anything better. But it would be nice to see some improvements.
